What should i do

edited November 2011 in Labor
Hello ladies! first off before i get to ramblin' i hope everything is well with all of you. I've been away since i entered my second trimester, had a bunch going on with moving back in with my parents(saving to buy a home), new job, etc... well i am now 35wks tomorrow and i cant take being pregnant anymore. To get you ladies up to date, my Dr. has been measuring babys weight, length and fetal height 2-3wks ahead of schedule which makes me technically 37 wks tomorrow. well on my visit 3 weeks ago(32wks) baby was weighing in at 5lbs4oz then last week she measured the fetal height at 40wks. now here is where my concern comes in, since i have had throughout my 3rd trimester BH i know what they feel like and i know its normal, BUT yesterday morning i woke up at about 5am feeling cramps coming from my back and a bit stronger than the usual BH and they were consistent at 15-20 mins apart.this lasted all day with the closest being 8 min apart. they have not gotten stronger, they are actually oddly rated pain wise, some being stronger and others weaker. I deal quite well with pain so sometimes i feel more back pain rather than my uterus contracting and i am afraid i am ignoring labor signs. i feel baby quite low, almost as though settling in my pelvis and every time i feel i think im getting a contraction its like im going to have a bowel movement. Now my question is.... Should i go to the hospital or should i keep timing and paying attention to whats going on and just wait to go to my Dr. appointment next monday the 28th? thank you ladies!

  • Time them and do things like drink water lay on left side take hot shower or hot bath walk and do things to either stop them or make them stronger. Back labor is hell so if you can stand it I would personally wait it out. Laboring at home is more relaxing and comfortable then at hospital. Depending how far from hospital you are depends on how close you want the contractions. I was an hour away left when 5 minutes apart when I got there they were 2.
  • @Samantha Ive only been drinking water and my bf has been going on walks with me as well as helping me do squats. my hospital is literally up the street, 3mins away lol. im just concerned im not timing the weaker ones and they r closer than i think, dont want to make the baby go into distress u know? ive noticed her move more with the contractions and my belly seems constantly tense since yesterday morning and its tiring me out. just need reassurance that im not freaking myself out :)
  • Even though her size is really big, her lungs might not be, so if I were you, I would call your doctor and see what they suggest, or just go in to L&D and get checked out. If you are in labor, they will probably try and stop it. Good luck!
  • I would call l&d and they might have you come in to check you out. I don't know much about labor starting slowly my water broke and I had no contractions prior that day.
  • @laura536 they told me last time i went to the specialist thatshe was developed and all she needed was plumping, other than that her lungs and heart were developed and everything looked like it was supposed to.

@Samantha i was induced with my son at 37wks and he was born 9lbs8oz. never even remember contractions it was all back labor, and fairly quick, 4hrs. son this is all new to me and kinda throwing me off. im gonna see how i feel tonight and then call my Dr, in the am. if not ill go to l&d to get checked if in cant sleep

    thank u ladies
  • I remember my contractions but it started after my water broke and happened immediately lol. There was no 15 minutes apart they were instantly 5 lol. I say when in doubt call. Lol. Good luck.
