my son almost died =[

He's almost 10 months and he was in bed with me which I hate I always want him in his crib but I was too tired to get up and put him to bed. At 5am I woke up to weird noises and he's next to me gasping for air he was pale n his ribs were showing he was trying so hard to breathe. I picked him up and patted his back thinking he was choking or something but he wasn't he just kept struggling then he started crying and gasping and eventually I got him to calm down and breathe normal omg was it scary. If he was in his crib he wouldn't be alive right now for sure. I'm taking him to the doc later cuz my car is broke and I have to wait til hubby comes home. He had pneumonia a few weeks ago I'm not sure if it got worse or what but he's def beening seen and im demanding answers.

Omg that's scary. I am big on overreacting and I would have called 911 but that's just me. I hope he's ok.

I know but stupid me my phone was dead and I didn't have time to plug it in I was just trying to get him to breathe right

He's fine now like nothing happened. His nails are normal what's that question mean I never heard of looking at his nails ? @mom2ING

I think she means his nail beds, are they blue, or a normal pink color. It assesses the oxygen saturation in his body.

Oh they are pink but this happened a few hours ago

I'm glad he is ok now but he defiantly needs to see a Dr asap to see why that happened I pray it does not happen again u guys are In my prayers

Son had a couple of these episodes. I immediatetly started performing cpr his breathing normalized and I had dialed 911 already. I'm really glad he is ok I know what it is like to go through this its devastating. If you do not know how to perform cpr you should take a class believe me if I wouldn't have performed cpr the times that I did I don't think I would have my son right now. I hope that everything is ok with him thetre must be a reason why this happened.

He was 2months old when he had the first we were told it was condition where the heart was enlarged and his heart was getting too tired to breathe sometimes. His lips would turn blue and my husband and I were so devastated that.we actually had to be talking to doctors about heart transplants and worse case scenarios. We waited two months after the cardiologist finally had am opening it was going to take six months just to see him but someone missed there appointment and I would call almost every day for an opening and sure enough it was
Moved up the cardiologist performed lots of test and after about two weeks we were told they compared. Thethree xrays from the heart the ultrasounds from the other places and they sdaid there was this coating that is normal and that the doctors misdiagnosed it as it being part of the hearty causing it to look like a part of it. It was not an enlarged heart at all we went to two more specialist and he was healthy they. Ruled it out as gurd.

My 3 year old had this happen this past winter. I woke up out of a dead sleep, must have been mommys intuition or something. For some reason i went running into his room and he was laying there gasping for air chocking i sat him up and all of a sudden he started throwing up. He was fine and fell back asleep and i slept in there with him and it happened it. Went to hospital and he had croup. It was a sleepless terrifying next couple nights, and my then 6 month old only caught a very light case of it.

Really don't know which it was I saw he was turning blue in his sleep and his tummy wasn't moving and I saw his face turning a different color I just immediately reacted the first time it happen when we got there he was still a weird cvolor but breathing. And then he started to have a seizure we aren't sure what happened but the cpr was helping basically I was breathing for him and I didn't stop. The other two time I performed it it helped also and we would hook him up to the machine immediately and as a percaution dial 911 my nephew died of sids at 2mo and I was scared since before he was born to have to deal with a loss again. They took out the little paddles when we were in the trauma room but he started to breathe ok after they stuck a tube down his throat and they didint use them it was the scariest thing ever

Nyla did that twice & it was around 3am & i was so scared. I couldnt sleep for the rest of the nite but im glad ur son is okay

It's hard to know what happened without being there and seeing it. It sounds like he either had an apnea spell (when you stop breathing completely) or could be sick with something. Do his ribs and neck suck in every time he cries or just right now? If you notice him working above his sternum (breast bone) when he breathes in, he could also have tracheo/laryngomalacia. Absolutely take him in to the docs. I would almost have taken him to the ER...when things happen like this to pts I've taken care of, they are admitted into PICU for a workup and to be watched closely to see what happened and if there's a reason behind it. It could have been an isolated incident but I wouldn't take the chance. Take him to see his pedi and go from there.

I took him to the doc and they listened to his lungs and said they were fine. I gotta take him for a xray. The docs here are so dumb here and told me that he needs to sleep in his crib at all times. Like hellooo if he was in there he would be dead right now!

This sort of thing has happen once w my oldest. She ended up having croup. It was very scary. I brought her right to the ER and they said her lungs sounded good. But, if i were u i would get it checked out again since its a baby and u said he was sick not long ago. Sorry u all had to go thru this. Hopefully it wont happen again. And dont let them discourage u just because he was in bed w u.
