Spanking a 4mo old?!

So yesterday we were at my bf's family party and one of his sisters who has a 4mo old was there, maybe the baby is even still 3mo old. But anyways, she goes on to boast that she had to spank her baby today bcuz she would not stop crying bcuz she didn't want to be put down while she got dressed. She seemed so.proud of it too! I was in shock, who does that?! I feel so sorry for that poor baby girl and to think that while we were looking at daycares we were temporarily going to leave my son with her since she is not working, thank GOD we didn't. Then she goes to say that her 7yr old daughter saw her spank the baby and started crying, I would too if I witnessed that. Breaks my heart.

I think CPS would consider spanking a child of that age child abuse. I have spanked my daughter (who is FOUR) on a very few occasions, but a child at 3 months? That is outrageous.

@graysonsmommy they didn't say ANYTHING at all, I sat there dumbfounded then looked around like "am I the only one that's hearing this?"

I work for CPS and I'm not sure whether the hotline would send someone out, but they would at least document the incident. When I go in on Tuesday I will ask my friend that works on the hotline. I'm curious cuz normally there has to be a mark or injury related to the spanking ut a.baby so young...spanking is uncalled for
