  • Use the baby oil put it on little before bath time then don't dry his head and out tiny after bath just let it dry on its own. Should give it enough moisture to start releasing itself.
  • I used baby oil also my Dr also said to take a baby brush and brush the hair in swirls gentle while in the bath.
  • I used baby oil and a fine baby comb. I put the oil on first at the start of bath so it could soak in, then washed his body, then I would wash his hair and gently massage/comb his scalp and hair to loosen and remove the flakes.

I also used baby oil and a fine toothed comb.
  • Let the oil soak for a while them loosen it with a fine tooth comb then wash.
  • I actually used extra virgin olive oil and it worked wonders! Try to avoid any kind of mineral oil (check the ingredients) because it'll just clog pores and the buildup will keep happening
  • Virgin coconut oil work s also
  • I had to use that dandruff shampoo called selson blue or something like that (Dr. Orders). Went away right away.
  • Thanks @jules, @debs, @Frantastic, @ExcitedForOctober, @Wilsomom, @RockiesPurple, @Jessibear, @monkey_girl. I have been using baby oil, but I guess I was doing it wrong. I heard EVOO tends to make the hair fall out. I'm gonna try these when I give him a bath now.
  • we used avenno extra moisturizing soap. worked great.
  • Thanks @Stillsurprised. We're going to BRU tomorrow. I'll see if they have it there.
  • It takes some time I think if you put it in before the bath let it sit then wash off it should start working.
  • Every baby is different I was told to use baby oil and it seemed to work great then later I noticed his hair started thinning! No no to baby oil for me now with my daughter I only use natural shampoo 3 parts water 1 part shampoo and I use extra virgin olive oil mixed with unrefined coconut oil it before i shampoo works wooonndders she has gorgeous soft hair cradle cap free and shes four months and its going on 3 inches long it was about 1 inch at birth
  • Does anyone know how to post pics?? I can post her progress if someone does
  • My youngest had awful cradle cap and I did everything to get rid of it for almost two months, nothing worked. Doctor referred him to a skin doctor, turns out it was eczema all over him and not the cradle cap that the doctor kept telling me it was. After some prescription shampoo and lotion it was all cleared up in about a week.

@ZekesMommy & @My2Boys: I noticed his hair was thinning that's why I stopped using the baby oil. I want his hair to stay soft and thick as long as it can. His hair is thin but thick. I'm gonna try your natural shampoo truck. His cradle cap isn't that bad.
  • Yeah I was upset everyone told me to use baby oil I never thought thats y most of their babies had little to no hair after the first few months its also bad to scrape it if u do that u will notice wit every piece of cradle cap that comes up hair comes with it and it adds up trust me my son had it bad from all the bad advice I was given lol he was born with beautiful hair and by the time he was my daughters age it was done for lol
  • My kids never lost their hair using baby oil to get cradle cap out. My neighbor son is three months old and they don't use baby oil but he us losing his hair. Some babies lose their hair its not uncommon.
  • It's very common for babies to lose their hair after birth.
  • My daughter never had cradle cap and I never put baby oil on her head and she still lost all her newborn hair. Whether or not they lose their hair is just a coincidence.
  • Yeah everyone experience is different but I know it was the baby oil for me as son as I stopped he stopped losing hair I started the olive oil and natural shampoo on his hair and I noticed a difference in a few weeks everyone has different hair and I'm now doing the same thing on my ownhair and my hair Iis more healthy than it has ever been I got rhe tips from a natural hair specialist and did follow up reading online for my type of hair
  • White hair and black hair are different so that could be why some people have such different experiences. The baby oil worked great for me but it may not be for everyone. I also shaved my sons head at 3mo because the cradle cap was so bad that I wanted easier access to his scalp. And my Mexican mil told me his hair would grow back thicker if I did. My family freaked out but my mil was right, my now 2yo has the thickest hair ever.
  • The thing I have noticed when I first stopped using baby oil his hair stopped thinning. I started using it again more hair came out. I thought it was the cradle cap that was thinning him out but it was the baby oil. At first I thought I was using it wrong but I did more research for cradle cap African American hair after I read @ZekesMommy post and a lot of women said they think baby oil contributed to their babies hair loss and thinning.

@Wilsomom I know that most babies lose their newborn hair but it didn't start thinning until I started using baby oil. Once I stopped using it the thinning stopped. I'm just going buy a good shampoo.
